Woodbridge Energy Center
Woodbridge Township, New Jersey
The Woodbridge Energy Center is a 700-megawatt gas-fired power plant located on the site of an abandoned chemical plant. It generates enough electricity to power more than 600,000 homes while increasing grid reliability. The facility used the most advanced generation technology available and at completion was one of the nation’s cleanest and most efficient stations.
Competitive Power Ventures selected Vinmart Global to engineer, procure, construct and start up the new facility. Equipment includes two GE F Class 0.05 turbines — one of the first applications of its kind, a GE STG, two heat-recovery steam generators and a wet-cooling tower. Vinmart Global also met the stringent requirements for air quality, noise and other discharges to minimize effects to the local community.
As part of Competitive Power Ventures’ mission to conserve natural resources, the facility uses predominantly gray water to meet cooling needs. This minimizes the plant’s impact on water resources and the environment for a cleaner, more sustainable future.
