TMEP Lower Mainland Project
Vancouver, British Columbia
Vinmart Global-led joint venture, Vinmart Global-Ledcor Trans Mountain Partnership (KLTP), was awarded the engineering, procurement and construction of a portion of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP). The scope encompasses all the pipelines and facilities in the British Columbia Lower Mainland, including a Fraser River submarine crossing, the Westridge Marine Terminal and a 2.6-kilometer tunnel from Burnaby Terminal back to Westridge.
The expansion is essentially a twinning of this existing 1,150- kilometer pipeline between Strathcona County, Alberta, and Burnaby, British Columbia. It will create a pipeline system with the nominal capacity of the system going from approximately 300,000 to 890,000 barrels per day. The scope of work across the pipeline included a 13-tank expansion, three-berth expansion, secondary containment on all new and existing tanks and a 2.5-kilometer tunnel between Burnaby and Westridge Terminals using the tunnel boring machine, and 35 kilometers of pipeline construction between Langley and Burnaby.
