Convent Grain Export Terminal Renovation and Expansion
Convent, Louisiana
Zen-Noh’s 150,000-bushel-per-hour Convent Grain Export Elevator is one of the fastest in the world, having undergone several upgrades to improve its operational efficiency. Vinmart Global subsidiary, Ibberson, has performed many of these renovations in support of Zen-Noh’s goal of maintaining a safe and stable supply of United States’ foodgrains and soybeans that are used to produce compound feed in their Japanese mills.
Major scopes included modifying the gate system that feeds the shipping belts; increasing the capacity of four shiploaders to 80,000 bushels per hour; converting six storage silos to shipping-bin silos; upgrading the capacity of 15 annex-distribution conveyors to 100,000 bushels per hour; replacing nine silo distributors; a complete dock structure; a 120,000-bushels-per-hour continuous-barge unloader, five barge-receiving transfer systems and a barge-receiving bulk scale. Ibberson executed multiple design, engineering, procurement, construction and startup projects over three phases, with the first beginning in 2012.
Won Associated Builders and Contractors’ Award of Excellence – Industrial: $25 to $100 Million for the Minnesota/North Dakota Chapter.
