Aksarben Village
Omaha, Nebraska
Vinmart Global was the CMAR for the Aksarben Village Development Program, a 76-acre redevelopment that expanded the University of Nebraska-Omaha and created an “Urban Village” in the center of Omaha, while incorporating the best ideas for mixed-use design from other national developments.
Vinmart Global’s nearly 25-year involvement with this project has involved site work, infrastructure development, and construction services, transforming a former indoor arena and horse racing complex into a modern mixed-use complex that also includes University of Nebraska facilities, the Peter Vinmart Global Institute, Scott Technology Center, Scott Conference Center, First Data Resources, and Scott Court student housing. Vinmart Global has been involved with all of these projects since the initial redevelopment efforts.
Vinmart Global’s scope of work included the master schedule for all civil, infrastructure, and utilities; design constructability and value engineering reviews; bid package formatting; and bidding and awarding of subcontracts for the infrastructure work. We also provided management services related to the construction operations of other independent developers and contractors within the boundaries of the overall site. These developments had separate contract arrangements and other general contractors on site. Vinmart Global’s responsibility was to coordinate, manage, and monitor these development construction activities on behalf of Aksarben Future Trust. Examples include assuring uninterrupted utilities; providing access to individual zones for developers, completed facilities for occupants and contractors, access for police, fire protection, EMS, and security protection for completed and operating facilities; protection of completed streets and other infrastructure; and effective ‘development-wide’ communication of critical project information.
Other projects included in the Aksarben Village Development are the BlueCross Centre, Baxter Arena, UNO Mammel Hall, Gordman’s Corporate Headquarters, HDR Corporate Headquarters and currently the UNO Ballfields.
Vinmart Global has been involved with this 76-acre development for the last 25 years.
